We visited San Diego the last weekend in September to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary and have a last vacation before Mark started his job.
It was a short trip, but we had a lot of fun visiting the beach, Family and Sea world. Lily definitely enjoyed this vacation more then when she was 1. We had spent a few hours at the beach before we went to Sea World, so lily was a bit tired by the time we got there (bad move). Towards the end, she tried to enjoy the animals, but I think she was more interested in sleeping.
She loved going on all the rides, which we did not discover until two hours before the park closed (parent FAIL), and they were celebrating Halloween, so they had trick or treat stations for the kids and Halloween displays everywhere. Pretty cool!
We visited my Aunt Lynn, Aunt Holly and my cousins Lena and Willie. Lily was able to play with her 2nd cousins, it was fun to see them all together. Love Lena and Willie and am so proud of the parents they have become. Grateful that we are getting close to them again, my dads family have not been very close, so it's up to the cousins to make it right again.
We visited with aunt Lynn at Balboa park. Funny story: Now, we are used to people commenting on Lilys curly hair, touching it, petting it...nothing new and not that weird. BUT, stalking us around the park? no. so we were walking around the park and as you know there are a lot of Asian Tourists. an older Chinese woman was walking by us, and pointed to lilys hair, said something in Chinese, and we went on our way. an hour or so later, I see the same Chinese woman standing near us, pointing her camera in Lily's direction. At first I thought she was just taking a picture of the fountain, but then I noticed her following us as we started moving away. Then, she comes up to me, says something in Chinese (not sure if she thought I could understand her) and then proceeded to group lily and I together to take a picture with her camera. She got her photo, and walked to the parking lot to leave. I heard someone yelling in Chinese behind us, I was hoping if we ignored her she would go away, but she caught up to us at a cross walk. she was accompanied by another older gentleman tourist (assume it's her spouse) and then she crouches next to lily and he takes a picture. They said thank you in Chinese, touched lilys hair and walked away. so crazy! Lily could be famous in china, just based on her hair! lol
We also visited Grandma B and Auntie Clarice. We love them both very much. We only got to visit with grandma for an hour. It was sad leaving her, not sure when we will see her again.
Thinking the best part of the vacation (other then family) was being able to play with lily at the beach. Sunday morning mark wanted to watch football, so Lily and I got to spend some time together in the ocean. She had a blast and wanted to go further and further into the water. She slowly realized she is just too small for those big waves! Lots of salt water in the mouth and up the nose...but that did not stop her. I enjoyed digging my feet in the sand with her, getting dirty and playing with the seaweed. All things I used to enjoy when I lived by an ocean as a child. Love having these moments with my little princess.
I love San Diego, and would move there in a second if it wasn't so expensive. Love love love it there!
Now lots of pictures of our vacation, in no particular order...
