October 2019

We had a great month, as usual. So happy it is finally fall! Favorite time of the year, no matter where I live, but especially in Arizona cause we can finally play outside. Beginning of October, lily and Jacob were on fall break. Mark and I went to California (previous month post) and the kids spent time with their Amma.
After break was over, we celebrated fall with our Halloween packed activities. I love Halloween. And I am instilling that love for Halloween in my children. Amma likes to say we are the Adams Family, cause really we celebrate Halloween all year long with our scary stories, costume play and skeleton décor through the house. Yeah, I'm a bit of a weirdo...but we already knew that! Jacob especially shares my side for the weird. He is obssesd with Skeletons and creepy stories. Every time we get into the car, 'Mom, can you tell me a scary story?' I proceed to tell him stories like 'Harold' or 'Where's my toe?', 'Sally', 'The boy who was too hot', 'Clickity Clack', 'Attack to the Chickens', and other Scary stories I've heard in my lifetime as well as others I make up on the fly (30min car rides are too long sometimes...for all of us!) BUT, the kids love them, and they get freaked out. May be the reason why neither of them are able to go to their rooms without us, oh well. We just love to be creepy.
We went to the Schnepf Farms Pumpkin festival near our house. We had a good time with Family, riding rides and going on the spooky train. Jacob did pee his pants when we couldn't get him to a bathroom on time, but the moments before that were great. haha.

We found Harold! Jacob was so scared! Muahaha

Then we had some random activites till Halloween came.

Jacob enjoys cooking with me. On this day he helped me  make a Quiche for dinner and created the skeleton on top. He is my little shadow and I love that he is taking an interest in cooking. He also loves to sing, which melts my heart when I hear his sweet voice! Love my boy!!

Jacob wore a costume about 95 percent of the time this month.

Decorating sugar cookies with a our sweet friends the Blacks. Jacob loves to play with his friends.

Neighborhood fall festival, the kids got their free pumpkins and had lots of fun with the activities.

Our Lily bug made Honor Roll at her new school! We are so very proud of her, and he dedication to be a good student. I was really nervous about switching her to a new school, and an advanced program school at that. I did not want her confidence to decrease if she started falling behind the other kids in her class. But she hasn't skipped a beat! We have been trying hard to adapt to the new pace, and she is just one awesome kid. I was not sure if she had made honor roll cause she received a couple B's, so when they told us they would recognize honor roll, I didn't think she'd received it...but of course I was wrong and missed her recognition ceremony (mom fail), good thing it didn't phase her. I'll do better next quarter. She's such a smartie pants.

We carved some fancy pumpkins for family night...honestly, I carved pumpkins on family night. My hands are still rashy. haha! But the kids did pick out some pretty cool designs, and Marks had a little more creativity this year.

We had our ward trunk or treat party. Primary was in charge, so our presidency had a fun time putting it all together. This year Mark was a total trooper and allowed me to dress him up as the Bearded Woman. It was a big hit! I was a Circus Strong Man, I think we made a pretty hot couple. He even let me put makeup on him! What a fun man I have. The kids looked awesome in their costumes, Lily was Pikachu, and Jacob was the 'Gram-Reaper' as he calls it. We even won the first place prize for best decorated trunk, thanks to Jacobs skeleton decoration obsession.

Then Halloween, my mom, ricardo and cousin Darla came to trick or treat with us around the neighborhood. The kids were hardly complained this year about the walk, until their buckets were too heavy to carry. Jacob wanted to go to the center of the neighborhood with the really scary houses, his head in my leg almost all night. not as brave as he thought hed be.
Lily, Daddy and Darla went thru the haunted house located in our neighborhood. The long line inside gave Jacob plenty of time to rethink entering inside...we got pizza instead. Lily is a brave kid! Maybe next year Jacob.

Even though we had a fun month, we did unfortunately lose our uncle Roger Mckee to Prostate Cancer. We were with him for Marks birthday, and he was very hopeful that his new round of Chemo would help his odds of survival, but first week of October, his Lungs began to fail, and so did everything else. Hurts our hearts to lose him. He really loved our kids and he and I shared a mutual dislike for politics Cancer sucks, it leaves so many people in pain and I'm sad his body couldn't survive longer. He had the cancer for about 2 years before it took him. We will have to honor him this Thanksgiving by making his famous pies as he was the pro and he will be missed.
Until we meet again Uncle Roger.
