May to June 2018

I've been procrastinating on this blog/journal thingy. Though there are still a couple days left in June, we'll just report on the month anyways. I have a ridiculous amount of photos, so I'll just update using those. I may be off in my order of things, cause it's been too much time for me to remember when this stuff happened exactly...oh well.
My girl completed her last day of Kindergarten. She has gotten wiser, taller and is so pumped for first grade. I'm dying a little inside thinking she won't be half day anymore. But I'll survive...maybe. She loved her teacher Mrs. Eckhoff, made lots of friends who she wants to envite for a pillow fight at our house. haha. Her favorite subject is still math, but she's doing a good job with her reading too. We are hopeful that the next school year will be just as great!

I had a few girls nights with friends in may. One with my church friends, going to Ikea and spending money on things we probably do not need. But then there was the ladies night with my girls from CFST. It was themed 'Prom night' only I didn't realize most would be dressed as 80's prom! They all looked amazing! I channeled my inner 90's kid and went with the twisty butterfly clips hairdo. We had such a good laugh taking prom pics and Summer and I frolicked in Dawns orange grove. It was so fun being with these hilarious ladies. And I won the games, Oreo on your forehead to mouth and the cheese ball toss game. And yes, I'm proud of myself haha. You know you've found your tribe when you can act like this and no one will judge you. Can't wait for the next ladies night.

Mark and I spontaneously signed up to run in the TMC 5k race in Tucson. We had such a fun time, as usual, racing this race. I was worried about my time, since last year when I ran a 5k it took me almost 41 minutes which is really slow! but this time, I just made it my goal to not stop running, keep a steady pace and pick a point of reference (someone to beat) while I ran. The first time I ran this 2013, I trained for months and was 20lbs lighter then I am today, and I ran it in 36:40 some minutes. In 2014 I ran this same race 20lbs heavier then 2013 and got 39:38 minutes. This time, 2018, at same weight as 2014, but much older, I ran this in 37:38! Only a minute slower then my fastest time AND 2 minutes faster then my 2014 time! I sprinted the last .10, and when I finished felt that I could have pushed harder through the race. It was a great feeling to see how much stronger I've become just by consistently working on my physical goals.
The kids got an inflatable pool and slip'n'slide, we've been enjoying the backyard. Looking forward to getting a trampoline soon, but we have a huge Sisso tree we need to cut down first and a Patio to extend. Lots of projects on my list.
We took the kids to a cemetery on Memorial day so we could teach them about the meaning of the holiday. It was a great learning experience for them, and for us.
Ms. Lily is growing up! She is liking the store Justice, wanting to do makeovers, wanting to buy clothes instead of toys...what is going on?! I'm loving it, BUT sad that my little girl isn't my little baby girl anymore. She finished her math and writing workbooks and was rewarded with a girls night. Facials and staying up till midnight was her request. Love my little lady.
Lily attended a one week dance camp. She loved being able to learn how to dance. We've decided to sign her up for a local dance acadamey starting in August. It'll be a good way for her to express herself.
Bah! love my little lady!
this was at her camp recitle. She was so fun to watch. And so were all the other little dancers!
Celebrated this wonderful man right here. Such a good father to his little minions. He's patient, caring, very hard worker and always looking to put his family first. We got pretty lucky to have this guy in our lives, I love him so incredibly much. And watching him with his children, makes me love him even more!
Fathers day, have to recognize all the fathers in my life. Especially my own. He's always been kind to me, even in his own recluse way. But he is turning out to be a great grandpa to my children. Thanks dad.
I'd signed lily up for a cooking class, but on the day of the class she woke up with congunctivitus :( She was so sad she was going to miss her class. SO, I decided to make homemade cherry pie with her. She did such a good job pitting the cherries and following my instructions. I think we will be cooking together often. Blessing in disguse. And the cherry pie? DELICIOUS!
Lily completed her first season of Basketball. I think we found her sport! She loved it and actually participated. Now that Jacob is 3, we are going to start signing him up for sports, he is so excited.
caught her putting on my red lipstick. She loves makeup, I hate her wearing it! lol
Sadly my last living grandparent passed away in May. My Abuelita Maria Vilugron Fernandez passed away two weeks after having a double stroke. Pneumonia ended up taking her life. My mom was so sad, killed me. Her and her mother shared a birthday and would call eachother every year to sing to eachother. My mom is worried about her birthday next year without her. I don't blame her. I'll just have to try really hard to have a baby on her birthday. Luckily my mom got to see her a couple weeks before she passed in Chile. An inspired gift from my brother Daniel. He wins favorite kid point for sure. My Abuela was 87 when she passed.
The ridiculous Sucker mark brought home from a business trip. Jacob was in love.
and the giant water melon gummy. It was so yummy.
Mothers day with my little mommy. Love her so much!
Still working on my physical goals. I've upped my time in the gym from 5-6 hrs/week to 8-9 hrs/week. It's surprisingly going really well and I'm not burnt out! being doing this since March and so far down 15lbs, reached some weight lifting goals. Getting stronger every day!
Met my back squat goal of 180 lbs (the pic is at 165, didn't get the pic of 180) but man it was hard to get up from the squat! I got lifters for my birthday, which help out a ton. But I've still got a long way to go working on form to make it less ugly. New goal on back squat is 190lbs.
Jacob is such a fun brother. He lets lily dress him up all the time! He thought he looked like a fierce tiger. I thought he looked like Rum Tum Tugger from CATS. haha

Mark and I participated in the MURPH challenge at CFST on Memorial day. We've done this in the past, but have never completed it in full. the full is: 1mile run, 100 pull ups, 200 push ups, 300 Air squats and end with another 1 mile run. It was tough, but we'd been practicing for a couple months. However, I thought my time was a lot slower then I'd been practicing with some half murph workouts, I should've been under an hour. Then later that night I was explain the workout to my mom, telling her how I split the sets, 20 rounds of 10-10-20 and then realized that I split the sets incorrectly since I usually do 5-10-15! I had only completed 10 rounds of 10 pull ups and it'd thrown me off.  I'd done 100 more air squats then I was supposed too! My legs were dying the next day and now I understand why my time sucked so bad. haha, won't be making the same mistake next time.

Disneyland 2018

Bottom right was our first time on Splash Mountain. It was almost closing time, cold night the ride had been closed all day till then. Lily wanted front seat and she got soaked! She was freezing, poor sweetie, but such a trooper. Such a fun kid! Mark looks like he is in pain on every ride, cause he was, but he had lots of fun. I just look like a raptor, I scream a lot on rides, more fun that way ;) We didn't get a lot of our photos, cause we'd forget to get the pic number or our Radiator springs racer photo cause the camera wasn't working, but the ones we did get were great!
We had such a blast at Disneyland! So glad we decided to take the kids, we always thought we'd wait for them to be older, but why wait? Lily and Jacob loved it, and I loved seeing the happiness on their faces meeting the characters, enjoying the rides and seeing the magic in their eyes. I want to go back!
When we walked thru the doors day one, excited!

We spent two days at Disneyland and one day at California adventures. I think the next time we go we will have a buffer in between visits to rest, cause I swear we did not sleep the whole trip.
Day one was at Disneyland. It was a Thursday so it wasn't too crazy busy and luckily it rained in the morning, so there were zero lines for the first few hours. We went on Pirates of the Caribbean first, and the kids thought it was the best thing every, especially Jacob. He loves the movie, so he loved finding skeletons and Jack Sparrow throughout the ride. Then we went on the haunted Mansion, which I thought would scare him, but surprisingly didn't! My kids seriously fear nothing, it's awesome. Then Lily and Grammy went on some bigger rides, and we ride swapped with them when they finished so Mark and I could go on the rides with Lily. It was great to bring Grammy with us so she and lily could go on rides while we took Jacob to see characters and go on some rides too. And then we switched so we could ride with Lily. We kind of took it easy on the first day relaxing through Disneyland, looking back on it, we should have gone on more rides and spent more time in Fantasyland and Toontown with Jacob. He still enjoyed everything he experienced.

This balloon was so worth the money! Jacob woke up that morning day one asking for a Balloon at Disneyland, so Mark had to get him one. Popped an hour later...BUT later that day we saw someone get a new one after theirs popped, so we did the same. Each day after that we got a new balloon. Two weeks later, the balloon is still floating in our house!

Jacob loves Daisy! We have a Daisy stuffed animal he always hugs, so he was so happy to see her at Disneyland...adorable!

Tiana on the steamboat, teacup ride was a fave, The best macaroon ever! and the best sandwhich I've ever had in my life, the Monte Cristo at New Orleans café. Seriously, I must have it again! With a Mint Julipe of course.

It was the Pixar fest while we were there so they had lots of fun Pixar themed entertainment. The kids loved the day parade at Disneyland. They do such an amazing job, I love Disneyland so much.

End of day one. It was packed for the fireworks so we didn't get to see them over the castle, but got to watch the projections over the water. Pixar makes me cry, so of course their salute to all Pixar movies made me cry...beautiful. And I got some COCO themed Mini ears too!

Day two we spent at California Adventures. I think this was lilys favorite place for the rides. First ride we went on, and two more times after it, was the Bear Canyon river run (I think that's what it's called) We got soaked! So much fun. Then Lily got to go on Guardians of the Galaxy, her favorite ride, Marks least favorite ride. Our girl is a thrill seeker. Jacob loved being in Cars Land, which was so cool. We saw more characters at CA, and especially the Avengers which Jacob was looking forward too the whole trip. He even got an autographed shield from Capitan America himself! Lily got to dance with Groot, which was so dang cute. If you know lily, you know she's got some serious moves, and she loves the attention! The light parade at the end of the night was my favorite, so cool. We had such a blast there. I think we need to add on an extra day there next time.

Day 3 :( Our last day at the happiest place on earth. It was so packed being it was a Saturday. we had to fast pass and family swap every ride we went on cause the lines were like an hour wait each. BUT we did use our Magic morning pass for this day so we could sign up Lily for Jedi training. She had a blast learning to be a Jedi. It was so cute to watch her. She still tells people she meets now that she is actually a trained Jedi. haha
I did not take very many pictures this day, cause it was so busy. But we had so much fun on our last day, we closed the park, didn't want to leave! End of the night we got to watch the fireworks over the Castle and went on the rides in fantasyland, small world, snow white etc, and of course the Matter horn which is my favorite ride at Disneyland and so much faster at night. Mark got soaked on our last ride, which who gets wet on the Matterhorn?! Mark does. bahaha!
My heart ached leaving Disneyland, so many fun childhood memories attached to this place for me and now memories with my little family. Such a magical place, hoping we can do this every year.
Um, who's child is not facing the audience? Mine. lol

My little Jedi!

This boy loved the T Cups! and Toon town. (note to self, spend more time in toon town.)

Before we left for home, we stopped for a few hours at Seal Beach so my little desert babies could enjoy the ocean. I love the ocean! I grew up near a beach always, so it kills me they don't get to enjoy it more often. I've decided that our family needs beach time every year, Mark agrees. They had so much fun playing in the water and sand castle building. Jacob was tossed around with the waves a bit, shivering cold, but he didn't want to leave. We walked on the pier and ate some awesome ceviche by the beach. It was a good day. And an amazing trip with my Eternal family. Love these people with all my soul!

Lily also lost her tooth the night before we left, so she was so dang cute in every picture we took.
