WARNING! If you did not gather from this title, this post involves poop, so don't be offended.***
We have been trying to cooperate with Lily's desires to potty train, but it is becoming very difficult. I'm not pressuring her to go potty in the toilet, she can stay in diapers as long as shed like, it is she who wants to train. She has been good about telling us when she needs to poop saying 'go poopie'? we rush to the toilet, she lets out a few toots and says she's done. Look in the toilet? And nada. Now, I can't say they have always been false alarms, we have had a few successes, which is great and I reward her with praises and love.
Lately, she will pee and then take off her own diaper saying 'wet' and hand it to us. How do I help her learn she needs to tell us when she needs to pee before going in her diaper? She also points to anything brown on the floor and says 'eww poop', which makes me laugh.
So, today she had about three false alarms and took off her diaper about four times. I was taking down the Christmas tree (finally) and I hear her yelling 'mom, door' I knew she had closed the door to her room and could not open it. I go to open the door and she says 'eww poop!' pointing towards the opened door. At first I thought she was doing her usual' something brown on the floor routine but then I looked back and found a big log on the floor. I thought about getting upset, but what would that do? We cleaned up the poop and I explained to her that we keep our diaper on or get mommy to go potty. She may have understood my explanation, cause while at my moms tonight, she came into the family room where we all were, holding her diaper in hand, and out rolls a piece of poop onto the floor. *sigh*
I'm sure this will get easier, and maybe my inexperience is causing this process to be harder then it needs to be, but as always, patience is required. Good thing I love her... id take her poop on the floor any day!
