Cats, Both Wild and Domestic...

Great three day weekend, its been really nice to have mark home on the weekends! We are both loving our new jobs. It feels weird to get out of work before 5 everyday and not feel sick of talking to people all day. I've noticed my anxiety is minimal, and I'm able to focus on physical goals again. So far, so good!

Spent labor day at Breakers Water Park. Lily had a blast! I was worried about all the water she swallowed since she is still learning to swim, but she's happy. We have not been there since she was 6 months, it was fun to be back.

six months vs. 32 months

my baby has grown so much so fast!

We went to our first U of A game of the season. GO WILD CATS! Love going to football games with mark. Makes a good date night and mark is patient enough to teach me the game. Plus, this means fall is vastly approaching and that makes me very happy! I love fall! Cooler weather, Halloween, pumpkin and apple pie smells... love it.

So, we have a cat stalker. We call him 'el gato' and he has been hovering around our house for about a week now. We'd keep him if mark was not allergic. Right thing to do would be to take it to the humane society, but that is just to much work. So instead, we will keep it outside until it goes to another home. Sweet little gato, just wants to be loved. But it wants to come into our house! We have to go out the back door if its in the front, and the back if its in the front. Its a pain. Hopefully it will go away soon, realizing we were not meant for a pet. Poor animal.

New Chapter

Today was my last day as the HR Generalist for APAC. Last week I gave my two weeks notice informing them I have accepted a new position with Premier Building group as their HR Coordinator. It is a strange feeling to know I will not be going back. Five years with them, a lot of up's and a lot of downs. I had imagined my last days, wished I could leave, but now that it is real, I'm sad. I will miss all of the faces I saw everyday. The employees who I tried so hard to take care of. My amazing co-workers I was with everyday, they will always be my friends, they have taught me so much. I cried a bit over the last week, but I know it is for the best. My heart is heavy, but I have hope for our future.

I'm excited for this new chapter in my career. I've already started working with the new company, and everyone is very nice! I'm looking forward to starting full time on Monday. Mark will also finish his last day at Vans tomorrow, starts his new accounting job with KLK on Friday, classes start the 25th, so he will be a busy boy! Though change is hard, it is necessary to progress.

Grateful for the opportunities the lord has given us, just pray it all works out.

my work friends gave me a 'dammit doll' for my going away present. This is genius!

Horton Family Reunion 2014

It had been over six years since my whole family was together, grand kids, kids and parents, all 23 of us. So we decided to get the group together, and stay in a cabin in Smoot Wyoming. We had a blast! It was loud, it was crazy and tons of fun. We stayed up each night till 2am singing karaoke, dancing and laughing. I loved seeing my nieces and nephews, they are so wonderful, beautiful and smart. Wish I could see them more often, but it's fun to see them grow. Lily loved all the attention from her cousins. Ben wanting lots of kisses, Brianna bringing her presents and Rebecca carrying her everywhere. Lily loves her cousins.
Thursday we went to Jackson hole, watched a gun fight, ate ice cream and admired the $150,000 rock table. Friday we celebrated Bens sixth birthday at Bear Lake. The water was so blue and refreshing, we loved it! Brothers rented a boat, mark tried inner tubing for the first time with my mom. Eventually he had to fall off so my mom could get off, but he held on for a long time! We also rented a trampoline on the water with a slide, the kids had so much fun. We then went to garden city for raspberry milkshakes, I could definitely spend more time there, cute little town. We were burnt to a crisp from all the sun, but it was definitely worth it. It's crazy how fast seven days goes by when you're having fun. We will get together again in 2016, can't wait to have all of the crazy hortons together again!

we had a couple days in SLC, so we went to the museum of curiosity, loved it.

ssoooo soothing

had to hit up gossip tapioca for some Thai tea.

Lily lately...

My daughter is awesome. It’s a fact. She's talking more and more and I take pride in how hilarious she is. At this time when I’ve been struggling with some life stuff, she provides me with so much peace and happiness. I thank my god every day for her in my life, I think I’d go crazy if she was not here.

I need to start writing down the things she says, they are so funny.

Yesterday, after her bath, she was jumping on the bed. I was creating funny music for her to dance to, she missed a step and fell off the bed. She was crying pretty hard and I felt terrible that I let her fall. I asked her if she was hurt or just scared. She said ‘I jus’ scared’. She stopped crying, and got up saying ‘ I need to go to the doctor’and proceeded to walk her naked self to the door wanting to go to the doctor.

Speaking of owies, she has an obsession with band aids. She had a band aid on her arm for about three weeks (good quality band aid) and would not let us take it off. We even tried taking it off while she slept and she would grab our hand. If you touched it, she’d move her arm away saying ‘no, I’m fine.’ Finally it fell off. She has tried to replace it since, but it falls off.

She is doing well potty training, she Tells us when she needs to go potty, but unfortunately its always at an inconvenient time. When she poops, she needs someone to hold both her hands. The other night she was pushing, pooped and said, ‘touchdown’. Not sure where she got that one. Lol

She often tells me she is not disappointed with me, which is a relief.
flexing her muscles

When mark was in the hospital, she made sure we knew he was going to be okay. Love how sweet and sensitive she is.

She loves Sofia the First and wants to watch it any chance she gets. Sings the songs in the car and always has to end in a high note.

Her fascination\fear of robots is fun. I’ve trained her how to fight them. Mark is usually the robot.

I asked her if she still wanted to play in the bath tub after it was over, she said, ‘oookayyy’ then folded her arms and started to pray…. Guess she thought I said pray. Lol
I love that girl

Raining

You know the saying, when it rains it pours? That’s pretty much how this year is going so far. Not to dismiss all the other wonderful things that have happened this year, but I’m just waiting for life to be normal again. Lots of personal stuff going on which leads me to say ‘what the hell 2014?!’

Past few months have been rough. Just to name a few...

June 4th I found that water was coming up from the tiles in our kitchen floor. Someone came to look at it while I was at work and when I came home, my kitchen was gone. Looks like the sewer line burst, and there was a lot of water damage. That night we had to leave our house. Here we are, one month later and still not home. As generous as our family have been to let us stay in their home, I need to be in my own space. I can’t even walk around naked! The positive side, we get a new kitchen. I’m just desperate to go home.

Mark was born with a medical condition called WPW. It has only acted up twice his whole life, but this last time sent him to the hospital. It was very scary. He had an ablation surgery which was unsuccessful, so he has to have a second surgery on Thursday. Of course my mind goes to worst case scenario, and I’m kind of freaking out. I can’t imagine my life without Mark, and I don’t want to! I love him so much, I need him. I just pray the surgery is successful so he can go back to doing what he loves, and we can look forward to a potentially long life together. There is so much to look forward to in our lives, it can’t end this soon.

I’ve been unhappy with my job for some time now. My plans have been to endure it for one more year till mark graduates, and then stay home with lily. I have been presented with another job opportunity. Which is good, but it’s stressing me out. Be loyal to my current job for one more year? Or go to a new opportunity for only one year? I have tenure at my current job, friends and despite the issues, I know what I’m doing. Positive of this new opportunity, I know the head of the department, they are offering 10k more then what I get now and its new experience to add to my resume. What to do?! To some it’s a no brainer, but for me it’s a very hard decision. All I want is to be with lily, why can’t that be the option?

I have also been trying to re-lose the 20lbs I gained… it’s been difficult. I’ve jumped up and down 5lbs each week for the last 6weeks, and have gotten nowhere. I work out 4 to five days each week, and am so sore I can’t even lift my arms. Now, I will admit that I know why I’m not successful… it’s my ‘I don’t care anymore’ phases. I just love food. I love all food. I think about food almost all day (mind you I’m writing this while fasting). And I don’t think that will ever change. I was hoping the reason I’m gaining and not losing was because I maybe was pregnant, but I’m not that lucky. So how was I able to do it last year and not now? Is it the added stress? I curse the day I broke my foot, cause if that had not happened, I’d still be on track. I was doing so good. I am not reaching any of my personal goals this year cause 2014 just won’t calm down. I know...whoa is me.
I know things could be worse, but I know they could also get better. I cannot be in control of all aspects of my life and I don’t believe that if you are ‘perfect’ then you won’t have trials, life is no respecter of persons. I’m just praying the rain will stop and I can have my life back. Please, a little tender mercy would be nice?
