Ever Truly Listened?

Since the antenna on our car was stolen (or fallen off...still a mystery) we are only able to receive one station clearly. It is 107.5, 60's 70's and 80's music. I am really loving the music from the 70's!
However, most 70's music is so long. When I think the song has ended and changed to a knew song, in comes the chorus again. geez.
I was singing along to the song 'Escape' also known as the pina colada song. Have you ever truly listened to the lyrics of this song? We can all sing along to the chorus, but the words are so funny and  the story is terrible! Here are the lyrics:

I was tired of my lady
We'd been together too long
Like a worn-out recording
of a favorite song
So while she lay there sleeping
I read the paper in bed
And in the personal columns
There was this letter I read:

"If you like Pina Coladas
and getting caught in the rain,
If you're not into yoga
If you have half a brain,
If you like making love at midnight
In the dunes of the Cape,
Then I'm the love that you've looked for
Write to me and escape"

I didn't think about my lady
I know I sound kind of mean
But me and my old lady
Have fallen into the same old dull routine
So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half-bad:

"Yes I like Pina Coladas
and getting caught in the rain,
I'm not much into health food,
I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
and cut through all this red-tape
at a bar called O'Malley's
where we'll plan our escape"

So I waited with high hopes
And she walked into the place
I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said, "Oh, it's you"
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said "I never knew"

That you like Pina Coladas
Getting caught in the rain
And the feel of the ocean
And the taste of champagne
If you'd like making love at midnight
In the dunes of the Cape
You're the lady I've looked for
Come with me and escape

How funny is this song?! I don't know about anyone else, but at first I thought it was romantic, and then it made me angry. He was going to cheat on his wife! And she was going to cheat on him! How is this romantic! lol...makes me laugh. All I know is that if I knew mark was answering to a personal ad (even if it was my own), his ass would be grass. lol!
So now I am curious about other songs that I listen to. Have I ever truly listened to the lyrics? New challenge. I doubt however that I could make sense of any Niki Manaj songs, her music bothers me so much...so I won't bother.

No More Boxes!

I finally unpacked the last box today. Now it is time for organizing our new place. Why does this have to take so long?! We have so much stuff. I'm sure someone out there would love our crap :) So here are a few pics of our place. We love it allot, its spacious and feels like home.
Entry/living room, you can also see the kitchen from here. The kitchen is awesome. lol, hi mark.

more of the living room, and the dinning room in back. We need to get an entertainment center and a book shelf. We haven't been to good at updating our furniture. We still have the family hand me downs.

Lily's room. We are waiting to get the crib. Could not purchase a crib for a one bedroom apartment, had to wait till we had a second bedroom. So much I want to do to this room...it's still a work in progress. We also need to get her lanterns up, that will look cool.

Guest bathroom/ our shower. We prefer the shower over the bath/shower combo...more roomy.

Technically our bathroom...but it is more lily's since this is where she gets her baths. It is a really large bathroom for an apartment. Love it.

The patio! love it. Just need to get some plants and hopefully make a mini garden. I wouldn't be a Mormon woman if I did not attempt to create a garden!

Our bedroom. Another work in progress. We have to get a dresser, no where to put our clothes! our last place had a walk in closet, so more room. I'm also going to create a headboard for our bed, cause I hate our current one. (hence why I'm not showing it ;)
So that is our humble abode. Still allot to do, but it is so relieving to have all the boxes unpacked so I can organize. Moving sucks...lets not do it for another three years, ok!

A Little Obsessed

Yes I am obsessed with my child. It may be ab noxious to some, the amount of pictures I post of her...but she is beautiful and I love her! So deal with it. With that being said...
I took some pictures of Lily last Sunday in her church dress. She looked so cute, and it was 3 hours before church and I had some time to kill.

ISN'T SHE BEAUTIFUL!

My happy baby

Changes

We have closed a chapter in our lives and have begun a new one. We are finally free from our first apartment and have moved into a new one that we love! We will always remember our first place, and it will always be special...but I will NOT miss the leaking roof, smell of mold, loud neighbors and lack of maintenance. Can you tell I'm happy to leave? lol
Lily has her own room, which I am having a really hard time letting her sleep alone, I end up getting her out of her bed and bringing her in bed with Mark and I. Our place is brighter and has more of a 'homie' feeling. I have a balcony, which means I can create a garden, yay! We love it! Now if I could just have a minute in my day to unpack! I feel like it is never going to get done...but I guess I have two years to complete it.
My sister and her babies have moved away from Tucson. I am really, really going to miss them! I have been near them since Liz and sarah were little. To not have them near by makes me sad. I love those kids! But I know they will be happier in Utah, and who knows, Mark and I could end up there someday too.
I have gone back to contacts! No more glasses. Figured it was time to look less frumpy everyday since I am loosing weight. I am now at my 'when I met Mark' weight. But I am stronger then I ever was...I'm going to reach my goal!
Lily is getting teeth! She has two little pearly whites popping up from the bottom of her mouth. She has been so good while teething, as long as her gums are being massaged, she's a happy princess. She is also starting to munch on baby food and rolling over. Today she managed to roll back onto her back! She is our happy little Lily and the most wonderful baby in the world (we are biased, sorry).
Lots of changes, some good, some sad, but all meant to be for us to find happiness and to progress. Life is beautiful, and all is well in the Ontiveros home.

A World of Firsts!

Lily experienced a few firsts this week...here they are, documented by picture. I love my little Lily.

First plane ride! Lily did such a good job on the plane. Did not cry once, slept half the ride both ways and had fun looking out the window. I think we have a world traveler.

Her first chocolate chip cookie. She LOVED it. When I took it away, she began to cry...she is like her mama.

First pair of shoes. Lily has never worn a pair of shoes before. And her little toes looked soooo cute!

First time wearing a coat...I know, I'm reaching for firsts.

First time out in the fresh mountain air. She loved it.

First time skipping rocks. We were determined to get it done.

First Independence Day!

First time looking at water. Sad to think she can't see this in Tucson. She also touched sand for the first time.

Grandpa Arnolds Service

Marks grandfather Fred Arnold, died the day Lily was born, February 19th, 2012. He was creamated, and wanted his ashes to be burried in the family plot in Montana. This is why we went to Montana. It was a beautiful service. I have never seen a veterans service before, very emotional.
The fire squad. Shot after the speach from the Veterans was given.

Folding the flag
I wonder what the symbolism for huging the flag is? Regardless, it made me cry.
My mother-in-law and her sister recieving the flag for their father.

Breath of Fresh Air

We had the opportunity to go to Montana this week for Marks grandfather Arnolds funeral. Mark was able to meet his mothers extended family and able to see the town where his grandmother and grandfather were born. We also got to see the family ranch and get some fresh air.
There is just something about the fresh air of the mountains that makes you feel happy inside. We were not looking forward to returning to 100 degree weather! Montana was a beautiful place, never thought we would ever go there to visit. Heck, I didn't even think humans actually lived there! But given the chance, we would definitely return . Now, lots of pictures...
The cabin we stayed at in Thompson falls. There was a path that lead down to the river. It was beautiful and very peaceful! The cabin was decorated very well.

The Papa Bear couch. Pretty much my favorite place to sit in the cabin. I felt little. haha!

Super Lily!

This picture does not do the river justice. It was a light green color and was so pretty.

Grammy to the rescue, keeping our little princess warm.

Lily observing while daddy tries to do a plank with grammy on his back. He was successful.

Our chubby little princess...so cute!

Out on the family ranch. So much beautiful land and Marks family were very sweet people, they made us feel very welcome.

We made Smore's one night on the fire pit by the river. It was so much fun, and so worth the calories!

I wish they had this in Tucson! Wild game Jerky. Marks great uncle also made us Elk burgers and Deer sausage. It was delicious and did not taste Gamay at all. Fun to eat something new.
